Guide to Selecting Commercial Kitchen Equipment

Probably the most common question anyone asks before setting up a restaurant is how to select the Kitchen Equipment?

There is no rule of thumb when it comes to setting up a Commercial Kitchen but there are certain key points which will help you decide better.

  1. The Menu - Be it a Fast Food Outlet or a full-fledged Fine Dining Restaurant the first step is to decide on The Menu. What will be served? Is it a multi cuisine outlet or is it a specialty outlet? How many dishes in a particular category? Once this is finalized you will have a clear understanding of how many departments will you need and no. of kitchen appliances required in every department.
  2. Kitchen Area - How much area do you need for a Commercial Kitchen? If the menu is basic you can manage with a smaller Kitchen, if the menu is elaborate you may need to stretch a bit of your kitchen space. The restaurant kitchen layout is largely based on the menu planning. It is very important to manage the workflow inside the kitchen or else it will not be possible to serve your customers adequately during peak hours of business.
  3. No. of Guests to be served -Some might say this is not important but we believe that the restaurant supply management can run smoothly if they are brought down to numbers. The number of guests which need to be served will also give you an idea of the Crockery required.
